Used Arctic Cat Parts

At our Odessa, Florida facility, Sun Coast Cycle Sports stocks inspected, used Arctic Cat parts for ATVs, side-by-sides, and UTVs. Each component comes off a specific donor machine, gets photographed individually, receives its own SKU, and ships at no cost anywhere in the continental U.S. Arctic Cat was an independent manufacturer based in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, from 1960 until Textron acquired the company in 2017. Post-acquisition, Textron rebranded the off-road vehicle line briefly as "Textron Off Road" before reverting to the Arctic Cat name for most models. Platforms we regularly disassemble include the Wildcat 1000, Wildcat Trail, Wildcat Sport, Wildcat XX, Prowler 500/700/1000, and various ATVs across the 300cc through 1000cc displacement range. Inventory changes daily because virtually every piece is one-of-one salvage.

Arctic Cat model overview

Arctic Cat entered the powersports market as a snowmobile manufacturer in 1960, adding ATVs in 1996 and side-by-side UTVs in 2006 with the Prowler lineup. The Wildcat sport UTV line launched in 2012 and became Arctic Cat's flagship off-road platform, competing directly with the Polaris RZR and Can-Am Maverick. When Textron Inc. acquired Arctic Cat in March 2017, manufacturing remained in Thief River Falls, but corporate operations moved under the Textron Specialized Vehicles division in Augusta, Georgia. Textron also owns E-Z-GO, Cushman, and the Tracker Off Road brand, which shares platforms and components with certain Arctic Cat models. The Prowler Pro and Tracker 800SX, for instance, are mechanically identical vehicles sold through different dealer networks.

Arctic Cat engines were sourced from multiple suppliers depending on the platform. The Wildcat 1000 uses a 951cc V-twin (sometimes listed as 1000cc), the Wildcat Trail and Sport used a 700cc twin, and the Wildcat XX uses a Yamaha-sourced 998cc parallel twin. ATV engines ranged from single-cylinder 300cc and 500cc units to the 700cc and 1000cc twins. For used parts buyers, the critical relationship is between Arctic Cat and Textron's other brands: Tracker Off Road UTVs share frames, drivetrains, and body panels with equivalent Arctic Cat Prowler models, making either brand a valid donor source for the other.

Common failure points and frequently replaced components

Wildcat 1000 (2012-2019): Early 2012-2013 models developed a reputation for crankcase cracking in the thin-walled areas of the 951cc engine. Arctic Cat quietly revised the crankcase casting for later production runs, but first-year units remain vulnerable, particularly under aggressive off-road use. Forum documentation on ArcticChat includes owners reporting crank bearing failures that led to stator contact with the crank position sensor. CVT belt failure is the single most common Wildcat 1000 repair, with belts degrading rapidly under hard acceleration, mud running, or improper break-in. Overheating is reported frequently when radiators become plugged with mud or debris, and the factory radiator is undersized for sustained low-speed technical riding in hot conditions. Owners report the oil cooler placement directly in front of the coolant radiator exacerbates cooling issues.

Wildcat Trail / Wildcat Sport (2014-2018): CPSC recall (September 2014): oil can leak from the oil cooler lines on 2014 Wildcat Trail and Trail XT models, posing a fire hazard. Approximately 6,000 units involved. Arctic Cat received 60 reports of oil leaking and one report of fire. CPSC recall (November 2017): winch solenoid located under the operator seat can overheat on 2017 Wildcat Trail SE and Wildcat Sport SE models, and aftermarket winch accessory kits for 2014-2017 models. Textron received 49 reports of solenoid failure with five resulting in fires.

Prowler Pro / Tracker 800SX (2022-2023): CPSC expanded recall (2024-2025) for shift cable bracket and park sensor failure on 2022-2023 Prowler Pro, Prowler Pro Crew, Tracker 800SX, and Tracker 800SX Crew models. The vehicles can move while in the park position. Textron received 12 reports of vehicles moving in park. Repair kit includes a new shift cable bracket, shift sensor, and dash decal for shift error display. Separate CPSC recall for Prowler Pro and Tracker models for fire hazard on 2022-2023 model years.

Textron Stampede (2017-2019): The Stampede 900 generated significant owner complaints documented on ArcticChat forums for excessive cabin heat from the engine firewall, water pump failures, steering column issues, and persistent fault codes. CPSC recall (February 2019): all 2018 Stampede and Rustler models with front suspension arm failure, with four reported incidents. Dealer support for Textron-branded vehicles declined sharply after many Arctic Cat dealers dropped the Textron Off Road line, creating a parts availability problem that persists today.

Arctic Cat ATVs (general): Battery and electrical system issues are common across the ATV lineup, particularly parasitic drain when machines sit unused. Fuel pump failures on EFI-equipped models. Suspension ball joints and tie rod ends wear rapidly under off-road conditions and are high-frequency replacement items.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Are Tracker Off Road 800SX parts compatible with the Arctic Cat Prowler Pro?

Yes. The Tracker 800SX and Prowler Pro are the same vehicle manufactured by Textron Specialized Vehicles and sold through different dealer networks (Bass Pro/Cabela's for Tracker, Arctic Cat dealers for Prowler). Engine, transmission, frame, body panels, and electrical components are interchangeable between them.

Q: Does the Wildcat XX use a Yamaha engine?

Yes. The 2018-2019 Wildcat XX uses a Yamaha-sourced 998cc parallel twin from the same engine family as the Yamaha YXZ1000R. Engine internals such as pistons, valves, and transmission gears can be sourced from either Yamaha YXZ1000R or Wildcat XX donor machines.

Q: Can I use Wildcat 1000 engine parts in a Prowler 1000?

Both the Wildcat 1000 and Prowler 1000 use the same 951cc V-twin engine. Engine internals, CVT components, and drivetrain parts interchange between them. Frame, body, and suspension components are platform-specific and do not cross over.

Q: Why are Textron-era Arctic Cat parts hard to find?

After Textron acquired Arctic Cat in 2017 and briefly rebranded vehicles as "Textron Off Road," many Arctic Cat dealers dropped the line due to parts supply and warranty support issues. Models like the Stampede and Havoc were discontinued quickly, and Textron consolidated dealer support. This created an aftermarket parts vacuum that makes salvage parts from donor machines one of the most reliable sources for Textron-era components.
