Sun Coast Cycle Sports stocks inspected used Argo parts from our Florida warehouse. Every component is photographed, assigned its own SKU, and ships as a verified individual item. Argo vehicles occupy a category of their own in the powersports world, and sourcing replacement parts for amphibious XTVs requires specialized knowledge. We carry components for the Frontier, Aurora, Conquest, Xplorer, and Magnum series across multiple generations.
Argo model overview
Argo is a division of Ontario Drive & Gear Limited, a Canadian manufacturer headquartered in New Hamburg, Ontario. The company has been building amphibious extreme terrain vehicles (XTVs) since 1967, making it one of the oldest continuous manufacturers in the off-road vehicle industry. Argo's signature product is the multi-wheeled amphibious XTV, available in 6x6 and 8x8 configurations, which uses a one-piece hull design that allows the vehicle to float and traverse water crossings without modification. This amphibious capability makes Argo vehicles a staple in hunting, search-and-rescue, oil and gas exploration, forestry, and remote access operations where no other vehicle can reach.
In addition to the amphibious XTV line, Argo expanded into conventional ATVs with the Xplorer series (straddle-seat quads) and the Magnum series (side-by-side SSVs). These non-amphibious models use traditional ATV/UTV architectures and compete more directly with mainstream powersports brands. Argo's dealer network is smaller and more specialized than major UTV brands, and parts for older XTV models can be difficult to source through conventional channels.

Common failure points and frequently replaced components
All XTV models (belt and transmission wear): Argo XTVs use belt-driven transmissions that are under constant load from the multi-wheel drive system. Belt wear is the primary maintenance concern, with service intervals dependent on terrain type and load. The Admiral transmission found in Aurora and Conquest models is more durable than the standard transmission in Frontier models, but both require regular belt inspection and replacement.
XTV models (tire and rim sealing): Amphibious operation depends on the AirLock rim system maintaining an airtight seal between the tire bead and rim. Rim corrosion, bead damage, or debris can compromise the seal, causing the vehicle to take on water through the wheel assemblies. Regular rim inspection and proper tire mounting are critical for safe amphibious use.
Aurora/Conquest (steering system): The Argo Progressive Steering (APS) system uses a spring element between the handlebars and the brake-based steering differential. While APS provides a significant improvement in steering effort over older Argo models, the steering linkage and brake system components wear over time and require periodic adjustment. Worn brake bands in the steering differential produce sluggish or uneven turning.
XTV models (hull integrity): The one-piece amphibious hull is durable but can be punctured by sharp rocks, stumps, or submerged debris. Hull repairs must be performed carefully to maintain the waterproof integrity of the vehicle. Replacement hull sections and repair kits are available but require proper technique to maintain seal quality.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Do Argo Frontier and Aurora models share parts?
Some engine components and accessory hardware interchange between Frontier and Aurora models that use the same engine family. However, the Aurora uses a more advanced Admiral transmission, Argo Progressive Steering, and a wider, heavier frame than the Frontier. Transmission components, steering systems, and body panels are not interchangeable between the two series. The Frontier 8x8 and Aurora 8x8 also use different rim and tire sizes.
Q: Can I use conventional ATV tires on an Argo XTV?
Argo XTVs require specific low-pressure tires mounted on AirLock rims designed to maintain an airtight seal for amphibious operation. Conventional ATV tires and standard rims will not provide waterproof sealing and will compromise the vehicle's ability to float. Using non-approved tires voids the amphibious capability and can create a safety hazard in water crossings.
Q: Are Argo Xplorer ATV parts related to the XTV line?
No. The Xplorer series is a conventional straddle-seat ATV that shares no platform components with the amphibious XTV line. The Xplorer uses standard ATV architecture with independent suspension, a traditional frame, and a single engine driving two axles. It is a completely separate product line that happens to carry the Argo brand name.
