Used Kymco Parts
Sun Coast Cycle Sports carries inspected used Kymco parts from salvaged scooters, ATVs, and side-by-sides processed through our Odessa, Florida facility. Our technicians strip each donor unit down to individual components, photograph every piece, assign a dedicated SKU, and list it with free shipping anywhere in the continental U.S. Kymco products are distributed in the United States through KYMCO USA Inc. out of Spartanburg, South Carolina, but the dealer network is smaller than the Japanese Big Four, and parts availability for older or discontinued models can be limited through authorized channels. We stock components across the Kymco powersports range: AK 550, Downtown 350i, X-Town 300i, Like 150i, Like 200i, Agility 125, People S 200, scooter platforms as well as MXU 450i, MXU 550, MXU 700, ATV models and UXV 450i, UXV 500, UXV 700i side-by-sides. Every item in our inventory is a one-of-one piece pulled from a specific donor machine.
Kymco model overview
Kymco (Kwang Yang Motor Co., Ltd.) was founded in 1963 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, originally as a Honda licensee manufacturing small-displacement motorcycles and scooters for the domestic market. The company developed its own engine and vehicle designs through the 1980s and 1990s, and today operates as one of the largest powersports manufacturers in Asia. Kymco produces engines and drivetrain components under contract for several other manufacturers, and the company's CVT transmissions in particular are respected across the industry. In the U.S., Kymco is best known for its scooter lineup, but the brand also sells a full range of ATVs and utility side-by-sides that compete on price with entry-level offerings from Polaris, Honda, and Kawasaki.
Kymco's product architecture divides into three families: scooters (50cc through 550cc), ATVs (the MXU series from 150cc to 700cc), and side-by-sides (the UXV series). Each family uses distinct frame and engine platforms, and there is no parts interchange between scooter, ATV, and UTV product lines. Within the scooter family, Kymco typically shares engine architecture across displacement classes but uses model-specific bodywork, which is the component most commonly damaged and replaced. The ATV and UTV lines share more underlying componentry, particularly within the same displacement tier.
Models and year compatibility guide
| Model | Years | Engine | Platform notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| AK 550 / AK 550i Premium | 2017-present | 550cc liquid-cooled DOHC parallel twin | Kymco's flagship maxi-scooter. Features inverted fork front suspension, Brembo brake calipers, Bosch ABS, keyless ignition, electrically adjustable windscreen, and heated grips. CVT automatic transmission. Competes directly with the Yamaha TMAX. The AK 550i Premium variant (2024+) adds a larger 575cc engine displacement. Bodywork, electrical, and chassis components are AK-550-specific. Engine architecture does not share components with any other Kymco model. |
| Downtown 350i / X-Town 300i | 2015-present | 350cc / 300cc liquid-cooled single | Mid-displacement commuter scooters. The Downtown 350i and X-Town 300i use related but distinct single-cylinder engines with CVT transmission. Bodywork is model-specific and does not interchange between Downtown and X-Town despite similar displacement. Some brake and suspension components are shared between these mid-range scooter models. |
| Like 150i / Like 200i | 2016-present | 150cc / 163cc air-cooled single | Retro-styled urban commuter scooters. KYMCO USA issued recalls on the Like 150i for ABS system malfunction and for potential fuel leaking on both Like 150i and Like 200i models. The Like series uses compact single-cylinder engines with CVT. Bodywork and trim are model-specific. Some electrical switches and minor accessories are shared across Kymco's small-displacement scooter range. |
| Agility 125 / People S 200 | 2010-present | 125cc / 163cc air-cooled single | Budget urban scooters. Simple air-cooled engines with CVT transmission. The Agility is Kymco's most affordable and widely sold scooter in the U.S. market. Frame and bodywork are model-specific, though some brake and electrical components are shared with other Kymco scooters in the same displacement class. |
| MXU 450i / MXU 550 / MXU 700 | 2012-present | 443cc / 550cc / 695cc liquid-cooled single (varies) | Sport-utility ATV lineup. The MXU series uses independent rear suspension and CVT transmission across all displacement levels. KYMCO USA recalled all MXU 500 Camo models and MXU 50 youth ATVs in 2008 for safety issues. Engine and frame scale with displacement, and within a given MXU generation, some suspension, brake, and electrical components interchange across displacement variants. The MXU platform is entirely separate from the scooter and UXV side-by-side lines. |
| UXV 450i / UXV 500 / UXV 700i | 2009-present | 443cc / 500cc / 695cc liquid-cooled single (varies) | Utility side-by-side vehicles. All model years 2015-2016 UXV 450i, 450i LE, and 450i Turf were recalled by CPSC for throttle system failures (7 reported incidents). The UXV shares some engine architecture with the corresponding MXU ATV displacement tier, but the frame, suspension geometry, drivetrain layout, and body are UXV-specific. The UXV 450i competes with the Honda Pioneer 500/520 and Polaris Ranger 500 on price, offering features like front differential lock, tilt steering, and half doors that competitors charge extra for. |
Common failure points and frequently replaced components
AK 550 (2017-present): The CVT drive belt is the highest-wear item on this platform, with replacement intervals varying based on riding style, though owners with 18,000+ miles report no clutch or major drivetrain issues when oil screens are inspected and cleaned at each oil change interval. The electrically adjustable windscreen motor can fail on early production units, leaving the screen stuck at one height. Bodywork panels on the AK 550 are expensive through dealer channels due to the amount of integrated LED lighting and aerodynamic shaping in each piece, making salvage panels significantly more cost-effective.
Like 150i / Like 200i (2016-present): Two separate recalls were issued by KYMCO USA for the Like 150i: one for potential ABS system malfunction and another for fuel leaking. The Like 200i was also subject to a fuel leak recall. These are the most recall-affected scooter models in the current Kymco lineup. The fuel system sealing and ABS hydraulic unit should be inspected on any used Like model. CVT belt and roller wear follows standard scooter patterns and is the primary maintenance item.
UXV 450i / 500 / 700i (2009-present): The 2015-2016 UXV 450i was recalled by CPSC after seven reports of throttle system failure. Beyond the recall, the UXV CVT belt is a regular maintenance item, and the front and rear CV boots tear when operated in rocky or brushy terrain, exposing the CV joints to contamination. Fuel system components on the UXV 500 (particularly fuel pump and pressure regulator) have been documented as failure points on higher-mileage units. The 2012 UXV 500 was recalled for potential fire hazard.
MXU ATVs (2012-present): KYMCO USA recalled all 2008 Mongoose 50, 70, and 90 youth ATVs as well as MXU 50 and MXU 500 Camo models. On the MXU 450i and larger models, the primary wear items are CVT belt, brake pads, and suspension bushings. Electrical connector corrosion is reported on machines used in wet or coastal environments, a consideration relevant to Florida-based inventory.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Does the Kymco UXV share engine parts with the MXU ATV in the same displacement?
The UXV side-by-side and MXU ATV in corresponding displacement tiers (450, 500, 700) share related engine architecture, and some internal engine components may interchange. However, the frame, drivetrain layout, exhaust routing, and electrical systems are completely different between ATV and UTV platforms. Engine accessories like starters and alternators may also differ due to mounting orientation. Always verify the specific part number against both model and year.
Q: Are Kymco scooter body panels interchangeable across different models?
No. Kymco designs model-specific bodywork for each scooter platform. An AK 550 panel will not fit a Downtown 350i, and a Like 150i panel will not fit an Agility 125, even though the overall aesthetic may appear similar. Each model uses unique mounting points, contours, and integrated lighting. Within the same model across consecutive model years, panels generally interchange unless a mid-cycle facelift changed the body design.
Q: Is Kymco related to Honda or any Japanese manufacturer?
Kymco originated as a Honda licensee in 1963, manufacturing Honda-designed scooters for the Taiwanese market. The company has operated independently since the 1980s with its own proprietary engine and vehicle designs. Kymco is headquartered in Kaohsiung, Taiwan (not China or Japan), and currently manufactures engines and drivetrain components under contract for several other global powersports brands. The company's engineering and manufacturing are entirely independent of Honda.
Q: What recalls affect Kymco vehicles in the United States?
KYMCO USA has issued multiple recalls through CPSC, including: Like 150i for ABS malfunction and fuel leaking, Like 200i for fuel leaking, UXV 450i (2015-2016) for throttle failure, UXV 500 (2012) for fire hazard, and Mongoose/MXU youth ATVs (2008) for safety defects. A full list is maintained on the KYMCO USA website under their recalls page. Any used Kymco should be checked against these recalls before purchase or parts installation.
